Conducting an agri-environmental risk assessment
An agri-environmental risk assessment is a process that helps producers identify and assess environmental risks and the required mitigation measures. Accepted assessments and validity:
Two agri-environmental risk assessments are accepted:
- Agri-environmental support plan (PAA)
- The PAA makes it possible to provide an overall picture of the agri-environmental situation of the agricultural business, to make the owners aware of various agri-environmental aspects and to identify realistic and effective improvements.
- The PAA is conducted by an agronomist in collaboration with the agricultural business and is valid for a five-year period. Therefore, the PAA may have been conducted in 2020 and be valid for the 2025 participation year if it covers a significant part of that year's production.
- To find out more about the PAA, contact the Agri-advice network in your region or consult the documents specific to agri-environment.
- The implementation of a PAA is eligible for financial assistance from the Agri-environmental fertilization plan (PAEF)
- The PAEF determines, for each plot of land on a farm and for each annual crop cycle (maximum of five years), the crop grown and the restrictions on the spreading of fertilizers.
- The PAEF is conducted by an agronomist in collaboration with the agricultural business and is mandatory for certain agricultural businesses under the Regulation on agricultural businesses (RLRQ, chapter Q-2, r. 26).
- The PAEF includes a diagnosis of the farm, which is part of the agro-environmental approach of a farm, which identifies factors considered essential for managing the environmental risk associated with the management of fertilizers used on a farm.
The agri-environmental risk assessment must cover a significant portion of your production and be valid for the fiscal year covered by the participation year.
Compliance with and submission of the agri-environmental risk assessment
When you submit your final financial data, you must declare whether you have a valid PAEF or PAA.
You do not need to provide a copy of your agri-environmental risk assessment to submit your declaration. However, you will need to retain your assessment, as you may be asked to verify it at a later date.
You will receive the documents requesting financial information once your fiscal period is ended.
