Description of the Techno-Economic Profile Assistance Program

This program is intended to allow La Financière agricole du Québec (FADQ) to provide financial support for agricultural producers’ associations in sectors not covered by the Farm Income Stabilization Insurance Program (ASRA) or supply management for preparing a techno-economic profile of their production activity, a secondary activity related to this production or both types of activities. Subject to the availability of funds, this financial assistance can reach a maximum of $110,000 per profile to finance up to 75% of the costs.

The program has been renewed for the period from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026, with a budget of  $450,000 for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

What can a techno-economic study be used for?

The results obtained from a techno-economic profile provide a source of specific, current, and quality information for the various production sectors. These data can be used by both trade associations and farm businesses to guide their decision-making regarding the management and strategic planning of their operations. Access to this type of information allows for the comparison of technical, economic, and financial performance between businesses in the same sector. This comparison exercise helps managers diagnose the strengths and weaknesses of their farm business and thereby make any necessary adjustments.
